The Company Executives Launch A Lot Of Programs To Trim Down The Costs Related To Poor Employee Work Performance
Christine is a forty-four-year-old woman who is the top administrator in the HR department at a large silver plating company. To cut the costs associated with poor employee work performance, increasing absenteeism, excessive sick days, work related injuries, and employee alcohol abuse and alcoholism, Christine and the other company executives created numerous programs that made the work atmosphere substantially more healthy, safe, and more productive.
As an illustration, eleven years ago Christine and the other company leaders established an Employee's Assistance Program so that all the workers had access to top shelf therapy for their personal problems that could harm their health, personal well-being, and their work performance.
As another illustration, approximately six years ago Christine and the other company executives erected a technologically advanced exercise and workout room complete with exercise charts, scales, many different types of exercise equipment, weights, a personal trainer during business hours, and mirrors.
As another illustration, nearly a year-and-a-half ago, Christine and the other company administrators launched a "Weight-Watchers" class that at this moment in time meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Furthermore, upper management employed a weight-loss healthcare professional to supervise the program.
In the last thirteen months, in a joint venture with the Employee's Assistance Program, Christine and the other company administrators started an "Anger Management" class for workers who want to get a better handle on their anger.
In the last two months, Christine and the other company administrators initiated a drug and alcohol testing program that is tied into their drug and alcohol abuse prevention program. In truth, Christine is the main individual in the company responsible for getting the message out to all the employees about the drug and alcohol abuse prevention program as well as the drug and alcohol testing program.
Another fairly recent enhancement to the drug and alcohol abuse prevention program is a class entitled "Alcohol Statistics and Facts." The reasoning behind this alcohol statistics facts class is that quite a few people do not grasp the total impact of the consequences of alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse without first learning about some of the alcohol abuse and alcohol addiction facts and statistics that are available. As a result, one of the goals of this class is to provide a variety of alcohol abuse and alcoholism facts and statistics in order to help workers gain a better comprehension of the large number of problems that are associated with abusive and irresponsible drinking and how they can avert these difficulties from occurring.
Most recently Christine and the other VIPs, via feedback from workers, initiated a class that centers directly on severe drinking entitled "What is Alcoholism"? This class meets every Tuesday morning an hour before work and focuses mostly on the differences between alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse, on some of the fundamental differences between statistics on alcohol abuse and statistics on alcoholism, and on the different forms of counseling that are available for people who have alcohol drinking problems such as individuals who drink in an irresponsible manner.
Even though each and every one of these preventative maintenance and health programs was fairly expensive, upper management personnel believe that they are several thousands of dollars ahead by providing all of their workers with a more productive, healthy, and safe work atmosphere.
